Rover Rats is Now Little Rovers
Share

Today marks a special day. After a little more than four years as Rover Rats, we're now officially called: Little Rovers.
I want to take a moment to explain why, what it means for you, and what stays the same.
Why the name change?
When I started this journey back in 2022, everything revolved around my own pet rats. The first product I ever made was a plastic platform to replace the wooden ones that kept soaking up urine. The name Rover Rats felt like a perfect fit at the time, and in many ways, it still holds a special place in my heart.
But over the past four years, I've learned a lot about what it takes to keep a small business going. There are only so many rat owners in the world, and for the business to keep growing, keep innovating, and keep existing for years to come, I need to reach more pet owners.
The good news is that this has already been happening naturally. Our products have found their way into the cages of guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, and chinchillas. Customers started reaching out asking about sizes for their guinea pigs or compatibility with their rabbit setups. The demand is already there, but the name Rover Rats hasn't been able to reflect it.
Therefore, Little Rovers feels like a natural next step to me. An evolution of sorts, rather than a revolution. It keeps the spirit of our original name, but opens the door to all the little explorers out there, no matter the species. And who knows where the future takes us. Whether it's small pets, aquatics, or something I haven't even thought of yet, this name gives us room to grow wherever our customers need us.
What about Rover the Rat?
Let me be clear: Rover isn't going anywhere. He's my original little explorer, the character that has served Rover Rats well the past years, and he'll continue to be a part of everything we do.
What is actually changing?
Here's a quick overview of what's happening and when:
Already done:
- Our company name has been officially changed
- Our website and sales channels are live under the new name
- Our social media accounts have been updated (you can find us at @littlerovers.eu on Instagram)
Coming soon:
- The release of the larger cage platform and hideout
- Full translations of the website into German and Dutch
- A specific accessory focused on guinea pigs and rabbits
- Updated product packaging with the new branding
- Attending more pet events
Note: If you place an order in the coming weeks or months, you may still receive products in Rover Rats packaging. Existing stock is being used before switching over completely. The product inside is exactly the same quality you've always received from us.
What is not changing?
The important stuff stays the same:
- Same products, same quality, same 3D printing process
- Same commitment to practicality, durability, and innovation
- Same sustainability efforts (paper packaging, outlet deals, recycled materials)
- Same Patrick behind the printer
- Same dedication to customer service which kept our Etsy and Trustpilot reviews at a perfect five stars for over four years
What's next?
With a name that better represents our growing family of small pets, I'm excited to explore new product ideas which serve a wider range of animals. Our roots are in rat accessories, and that will always be a core part of what we do.
But I'm looking forward to designing and testing more products with guinea pigs, rabbits, or even cats and dogs.
As always, if you have any questions, ideas, or just want to say hello, feel free to reach out through the chat on our website or send me a message on Instagram. I love hearing from you.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you've been here since the very first Etsy order or you just found us, welcome to the Little Rovers family.
With warm regards,
Patrick from Little Rovers
